Kathy was sitting on the couch reading while Niko, one of the other guards, was posted outside of her house. She hadn’t wanted to leave him out there, but he had insisted that he would be more effective watching the outside of her home. She put stew on for dinner tonight, making sure it was enough for both herself, Clara and Jon. She was beginning to worry that something was wrong with him. He had called her once in the two weeks he had been out of town and while they had talked every night since he had come back, she still hadn’t seen him. She was beginning to feel like he was avoiding her. She was so wrapped up in her book and in her own thoughts that she didn’t hear Clara come into the house.

“You’ve got it bad, girl. You’re so out of your head about him that you didn’t hear me come in and you didn’t hear me go into the kitchen and steal a bite of that awesome stew. You still don’t want to admit that you love him out loud, I get that part, but you need to tell him you might be preggers. That pouch you’ve been hiding for the last few weeks is getting a little bigger, maybe you and I should go to the doctor’s office and find out how far along you are.” Clara said as she sat down next to Kathy.

Kathy looked down at her growing belly, she knew she was pregnant, she just didn’t want to tell Jon yet. She didn’t want that to be the reason he came back to her. She loved him and it hurt every day she didn’t see him. Kathy sighed and looked up at Clara, she didn’t want to agree with her but she knew Clara was right. Kathy pulled out her phone and called Dee to see where her doctor was located and to get her number. She made her first appointment with a sad and heavy heart.

Kathy missed Jon. For the last two months they had only communicated through phone calls and text messages. After she was terminated from the firm, due to the high volume of complaints from several of her clients due to her suspension, she was let go. While she was in between jobs she thought about what she was going to do. She had confided in Jon her fears and her hopes. She was worried that she wasn’t the woman he loved and it made her cry at night after she got off the phone with him. She loved him and her heart was slowly breaking every day he didn’t come by. She knew he was getting daily updates on her from Rafi only because Clara had let it slip on one of their girl’s nights in.

Kathy made the appointment and told Clara when it was and where they would be meeting with the doctor. She made Clara promise not to tell Jon, she wanted to be the one to tell him when she knew for sure she was pregnant, and not just gaining more weight.
